It’s hit the new media today and blowing like gale over the internet. Glenn Beck and Fox News parting ways? That’s not exactly what I read in this excerpt on The Blaze announcement:
Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO of Fox News said, “Glenn Beck is a powerful communicator, a creative entrepreneur and a true success by anybody’s standards. I look forward to continuing to work with him.” Glenn Beck said: “I truly believe that America owes a lot to Roger Ailes and Fox News. I cannot repay Roger for the lessons I’ve learned and will continue to learn from him and I look forward to starting this new phase of our partnership.” Joel Cheatwood, SVP/Development at Fox News, will be joining Mercury Radio Arts effective April 24, 2011. Part of his role as EVP will be to manage the partnership and serve as a liaison with the Fox News Channel. Roger Ailes said: “Joel is a good friend and one of the most talented and creative executives in the business. Over the past four years I have consistently valued his input and advice and that will not stop as we work with him in his new role.
I can only guess, but I have a feeling there are going to be special projects before the coming election that could blow the cover off of a lot in the current administration. Separating into a special agreement would make investigative reports and specials a lot easier if he did not have to produce a daily show. This could, in fact, be even more powerful.
Glenn Beck is a firebrand. His unflinching stand on revealing and exposing those in the current administration is bar none. We don’t even see the Fox News anchors do the job that Beck has done. Many of us have begun to think that O’Reilly, Hannity, and in particular Sheppard Smith are becoming irrelevant. Smith has two shows with most of the same information. He has been seen as tipping his opinion closer to the left side of the isle. O’Reilly missed the coming economic fall years ago. Many of us watched only one show on CNN – Glenn Beck. We find we are turning our televisions off more during the day and evening. We watch America Live and turn the TV off until Cavuto and Beck come on and turn it off again.
Beck is one that has encouraged America to learn our history, about our Founding Fathers, and brought in experts in fields to show us how we’ve been cheated in our classrooms.
I don’t know what the new agreement is, but I bet Glenn Beck will not be quiet, that Fox News will be a part of a new arrangement that is innovative and surprisingly effective.
