Hey Los Angeles, did you enjoy Obama’s Visit? [UPDATED]

Oh, I’m sorry you didn’t get to see him (he didn’t come here to see you), except maybe in passing as you sat stuck in worse than normal traffic and his motorcade sped by;

PhotobucketNavigating rush-hour traffic on Los Angeles’ Westside, which is never an easy task, was even worse in some areas Monday evening as streets were blocked off because of a visit by President Obama.
Obama arrived in Los Angeles for a fundraiser at the home of “ER” and “The West Wing” executive producer John Wells and his wife, Marilyn.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, also are expected to attend.

The Los Angeles Police Department said it had received a number of calls from people about the traffic but had not been given information on street closures from the Secret Service.On Twitter, motorists reported that traffic was at a standstill in Hollywood and the Miracle Mile. Others reported that Olympic Boulevard was closed in Beverly Hills.

One visitor to the LA area for sure wasn’t amused by Obama’s visit;

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — My plans were all set: I’d drop by Pamela Geller’s 7 p.m. event on Sepulveda Boulevard, get some quick pictures, jump in the rental car, hustle down to LAX and return the car, and still leave myself plenty of time to catch the red-eye flight back home. What could possibly go wrong?

President Barack Obama will visit Los Angeles this Monday, for a 24-hour stay during which he will headline a fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
The President is scheduled to land at Los Angeles International Airport at 4:10 pm on August 16th, attend the DCCC fundraiser that evening, spend the night, and depart Tuesday morning.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced last month that she will also be present at the DCCC’s top-dollar event, which is reportedly being held at the home of Marilyn and John Wells and costs between $2,500 and $30,400 to attend.

(Insert profane adjectives and obscene epithets here.) Wells is a liberal TV producer, and guests at the event will include Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Barbra Streisand.

One thought; with the cost per hour to get Obama out here to the Left Coast to raise $1 million dollars for Democrats likely exceeding the amount raised, maybe it’d be cheaper just to cut the Dems a Treasury check and get it over? Or maybe make them limousine liberals come to DC and kick it with Obama in the White House?

Just sayin’ is all.

[UPDATE] Allahpundit digs, discovers dumb;

Alternate headline: “Obama inventing entirely new ways to alienate Americans.” I glanced at the L.A. Now headline about the traffic clusterfark this morning and didn’t give it a second thought, figuring that “presidential motorcade causes traffic jam” is too lame to blog even on a slow summer news day. But then I saw the Wrap’s post demanding an apology, and then the Times followed up with a story about commuters demanding an honest-to-goodness investigation into what happened, and suddenly I realized — we’ve got dumb/fun content gold here.

I only wish I had time to work up a photoshop for the occasion. Thank heavens for Slublog!

Of course, LA residents want an “investigation“, but I can save them all that hassle (and money) and just say “Elections have consequences“.

    Maybe it isn’t Obama. If you were the Secret Service and you really really didn’t like the windy mofo, what would you do? You’re honorable; you took the job and swore to protect him; you can’t just pop a cap, it violates your oath and jeapordizes your retirement.
